We started it with a bang; went shopping for the last few things we may need and when we came back, the L&M who was carrying the shopping, dropped it! Can you at all imagine 12 eggs falling on a stone floor? Right. Out of the 12, eight were broken. What a sight!... And I just could not go down there and clean up the mess! I have been complaining a bit about all the people who come and go here all doy long, but I must admit that I have never been so happy to see one of them turn up just then! She took one look at it, pushed us both away and cleaned up the mess! Bless her!
We did not leave our rooms this time; decided to stay up here and preserve as much of our diminishing strength as possible. I prepared something very nice for us to eat before the fast and that is a story on its own! Which I will tell...
It was a strange day in many ways; this Home is run by non-Jews, so even though they did ask if we were fasting and we told them that we both are, the breakfast tray for the L&M arrived on time... so did the lunch tray, and the supper one at 6 in the evening. The fast ended at 7:20...
The laundry arrived in the early afternoon! It was really all quite amusing; they are all so nice and so caring, always asking if we need anything. We are grateful...
And so forgive me for this very short Column. Impossible to do more this time, but I did quite a bit of cooking and will share it with you in my next Column.
Holidays are around the corner, again!...so Hag Sameah to you ALL!
